Alan Jeffries

Principal Consultant: counter-surveillance and digital forensics, practised across Asia from Hong Kong since 1992. Two disciplines, one concern, held for three decades: what is said and stored in private should stay that way, and when it has not, the evidence should stand up in court.

The counter-surveillance work began in 1992 and has run continuously since: privacy sweeps of boardrooms, residences, vehicles and deal rooms under the discipline of Detect, Defeat, Nullify. The travel began a year later: Japan and Singapore since 1993, first for leading American business consultancies, then for a practice instructed in its own name, pausing only for the Covid years. The forensics work grew from the same instinct applied to devices and data: preserved properly, examined repeatably, reported plainly.

Digital forensics, eDiscovery & expert evidence

Court-aware examination of computers, phones, mailboxes and cloud platforms under the DDD Method: Detect, Document, Demonstrate. Every contact leaves a trace. d3forensics.com

Expert evidence

Where matters require opinion evidence, reports are prepared in line with the Rules of the High Court (Order 38) and the Code of Conduct for Expert Witnesses, with the expert's overriding duty to the court paramount. Adverse findings are reported plainly; no contingency or success fees are taken, because expert evidence must be independent of the outcome of proceedings.

Credentials, forums and matter histories are provided to instructing counsel under confidentiality rather than published here; that is a deliberate practice, not an omission.

Named methods

Detect. Defeat. Nullify. The counter-surveillance discipline: find the device, neutralise it with the evidence preserved, close the vulnerability that admitted it. The DDD Method. Detect, Document, Demonstrate: forensics on verified copies, every step recorded, findings a court can test. The red-yellow-green floor plan. Scope marked in three colours before the first call: red mandatory, yellow second priority, green as time allows, so professional fees concentrate where the risk concentrates.
